Assemblies

On Fridays we hold two Assemblies. At 1.30pm Years 5-8. At 2.15pm Years 1-4. Parents and extended family are welcomed to our assemblies. Students frequently present music performances. Certificates are awarded and the Week That Was is shown. The students organise and run assemblies.

Newsletters

Newsletters informing parents of events at school are sent home every Wednesday.   The eldest child in each family is given a copy.  We urge you to look for this in your child’s bag each Wednesday as it will keep you well informed of school events!  Each term your child will bring home a class/team newsletter which will inform you of class programmes and special activities.

Religious Instruction

Religious instruction is given weekly from March to October for half an hour to year 1 – 4 classes. If parents do not wish their children to take part they should state this in writing to the Principal and these students will be supervised with a different activity.

School Banking

The children are offered school banking on Thursdays through the ANZ Bank and the ASB Bank, Timaru Branch.  Forms and deposit slips are available at the office to start an account.

School Donation

The Board of Trustees has decided that every family shall be asked to contribute towards the school's finances. The donation is $50 a child or $70 a family.  School asks for this money in Term 2 of each year. This contribution is voluntary but the school benefits greatly from the fund which purchases equipment frequently at trade or school discount prices.  The school also pays for your child's swimming (including buses to and from), and free show performances throughout the year.

Social Worker in Schools

Bluestone has the valued services of a social worker in schools.  Referrals can be made by parents, staff, or by the students themselves.  Contact or detail can be obtained from the Principal or from the school office.  This service aims at supporting students and their families.
Our Social Worker In Schools, is Carol Wadsworth, and she works through Family Works. Carol is at school on two days of each week and has an office beside our filming studio (previously the dental Clinic), with access off Raymond Street.

Educational Progress

Special Education psychologists render valuable assistance by advising on problems of progress or behaviour.   Their services are available through the school, your family doctor, or directly to their office.
